Selected high quality submissions will be published as book chapters in an edited book entitled: "Biomedical Knowledge Discovery and Data Mining" in Studies in Computational Intelligence Series by Springer.

The goal of this workshop is to share research solutions using data mining approaches to problems of today's biomedical literature and to identify new issues and directions for future research in biomedical literature mining. Techniques and Methodologies proposed in this workshop will help addressing two major challenges to incorporate this vast biological knowledge into the data mining cycle: designing efficient the text mining frameworks; and adapting existing text mining algorithms to understand constantly varying and changing biomedical data.

In BIOLM 2008, complementary to main themes of IEEE ICDM 2008, special focus is aimed at looking on the evolving areas of interest for Application of Text Mining in Semantic Biomedicine. Thus as part of BIOLM 2008, there are three special tracks on:
